The president's 2013 budget request

The president's fiscal 2013 budget request to Congress, released Feb. 13, provides about $39.5 billion in base funding for the Homeland Security Department, a decrease of 2.38 percent over fiscal 2012 estimated spending when accounting for inflation.
The 2013 budget for DHS management and operations also decreases under the proposed budget, by 1.92 percent, to $1.13 billion.
